Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) has been described as many things. For us what makes NLP distinctive is that it represents a discrete technology …quite literally the know how to do something.

NLP relies on the human capability that is within and about all of us. More specifically, NLP provides both a model of how human beings function and offers ways to apply the model to enhance both personal and professional life.

NLP operates at every logical level and in every area of human experience. The name is descriptive:

Neuro refers to our neuro-physiology—that is the functioning of the nervous system within its physiological structure

Linguistic refers to our use of language to communicate—that is in every form in which people communicate with each other

Programming (from the field of cybernetics) refers to the patterns evident in our thought, sensation and behaviour—people’s own programmes.
